At apolloscooters.ae, rider safety is our highest priority. Electric scooters provide an efficient, enjoyable, and modern way to travel, but they must always be operated responsibly, maintained correctly, and used in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Managed regionally by Monster Middle East, the exclusive regional distributor and official brand representative for Apollo Scooters across the Middle East, this page provides general safety guidance and regulatory information for customers across the GCC and wider region.

Important Notice: Laws, permit requirements, speed limits, route permissions, age restrictions, enforcement practices, and technical standards may vary by country, emirate, municipality, or authority and may change without notice. Riders are solely responsible for checking and complying with the latest rules in the location where the scooter is used.

1. Rider Eligibility & Minimum Age

Users must meet the minimum legal age required in the jurisdiction where the scooter is operated.

Where local regulations specify a minimum age, riders must comply fully. In some markets, this may be 16 years or older, while other locations may apply different standards.

Parents or guardians are responsible for ensuring that minors do not operate scooters unlawfully or without proper supervision.

2. Personal Protective Equipment

For safe riding, users should wear appropriate protective equipment at all times, including:

properly fitted protective helmet
suitable closed-toe footwear
weather-appropriate clothing
reflective or high-visibility clothing when riding at night
gloves and protective pads where appropriate

Failure to wear protective equipment may increase the risk of injury.

3. One Rider Only

Unless a specific model is expressly approved otherwise and local law permits, scooters are intended for one rider only.

Do not carry:

passengers
children
pets
unstable loads
any item that interferes with safe operation

Additional riders may reduce balance, braking performance, structural safety, and legal compliance.

4. Safe Riding Behaviour

Riders must always maintain safe control of the scooter and operate it responsibly.

Users must not:

ride recklessly or dangerously
race or perform stunts
jump curbs or obstacles
weave unpredictably through pedestrians or traffic
ride while impaired
use mobile phones while riding
use dual headsets or any device that limits awareness
operate beyond their skill level

Always ride at a speed suitable for traffic, pedestrians, weather, road surface, and visibility.

5. Permitted Riding Areas

Scooters may only be used where legally permitted.

Depending on the local jurisdiction, this may include:

designated e-scooter lanes
cycle tracks
shared mobility lanes
approved community roads
designated low-speed routes

Scooters must not be used where prohibited, including locations such as:

highways
expressways
restricted roads
airports unless authorized
unsafe construction zones
private property without permission

Riders must obey all local signs, markings, notices, and instructions issued by competent authorities.

6. Pedestrian Priority

Pedestrians always have priority.

Riders must:

slow down in shared spaces
maintain safe distance from pedestrians
yield where required
avoid intimidating or obstructive riding
dismount where required by law or signage

Where local regulations require, riders should dismount and walk the scooter across pedestrian crossings.

7. Parking Responsibilities

Scooters should only be parked in legal, safe, and considerate locations.

Do not park:

across walkways
in front of entrances or exits
on wheelchair ramps
in emergency access areas
in vehicle lanes
where pedestrians are obstructed

Improper parking may result in penalties, confiscation, towing, or removal by authorities or property owners.

8. Speed Compliance

Riders must comply with all posted or legally applicable speed limits.

Some regulated zones may impose limits such as 20 km/h or other speeds determined by local authorities.

Even where no speed is posted, riders must reduce speed based on:

crowd density
visibility
weather
road quality
rider experience
stopping distance

9. Pre-Ride Safety Inspection

Before each ride, users should inspect the scooter and ensure it is in safe working condition.

Recommended checks include:

tire pressure and tire condition
front and rear brakes
steering alignment
folding latch security
battery charge level
front and rear lights
horn or bell
throttle response
visible cracks, looseness, or damage

Do not ride if the scooter appears unsafe, damaged, unstable, or malfunctioning.

10. Weather & Surface Conditions

Use additional caution in adverse conditions.

Reduce speed or avoid riding in:

rain
standing water
flooded roads
sand
gravel
slippery paint markings
tiles
potholes
poor visibility
high pedestrian traffic

Water-resistant features do not make a scooter waterproof. Damage caused by misuse or unsafe environmental exposure may not be covered under warranty.

11. Charging & Battery Safety

Use only approved charging equipment and follow all manufacturer guidance.

Never:

charge with damaged cables or chargers
charge in wet environments
charge near open flame or excessive heat
cover the charger during operation
continue using a damaged battery system

Charge in a dry, ventilated area and disconnect equipment when complete where appropriate.

12. Accident Procedure

If involved in an accident:

Stop immediately
Move to safety if possible
Check for injuries
Contact emergency services or competent authorities where required
Exchange relevant information where legally required
Do not continue riding until the scooter is inspected

Even minor impacts may affect structural or braking integrity.

13. Product Compliance & Local Adaptation

Products supplied through apolloscooters.ae are intended for lawful regional sale and use, subject to applicable import, product, and technical requirements.

Customers are responsible for ensuring lawful use after purchase, including registration, permits, insurance, or accessories required by local authorities.

14. Maintenance Responsibilities

Safe ownership requires routine maintenance.

Users should periodically inspect and maintain:

brakes
tires
steering system
folding mechanism
suspension
lights
battery system
fasteners and hardware

Failure to maintain the scooter may increase risk of malfunction or injury.

15. Regional Regulatory Variations

Rules differ across the GCC and Middle East. For example, some jurisdictions may require permits, some may restrict public-road use, and others may permit riding only in designated zones.

Customers must not assume that rules in one country apply in another.

Always verify the latest guidance from the relevant transport, road, police, or municipal authority before riding.

16. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

Riding an electric scooter involves inherent risk.
Users accept responsibility for safe, lawful, and competent operation.
Monster Middle East, Apollo Scooters, and affiliated parties are not liable for accidents, injury, property damage, fines, penalties, losses, delays, or claims arising from misuse, unlawful use, negligence, rider error, poor maintenance, unauthorized modification, unsafe conditions, or failure to follow guidance.

Nothing in this policy excludes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable consumer protection law.
